Travelling along TRANSROMANICA: Carinthia

Green forests, blue lakes and picturesque mountains – these are the typical motifs of Carinthia. The most southern province of the Austrian Republic receives its visitors with beautiful landscapes and hearty hospitality. As the name already reveals (Carinthia derives from the Celtic language and means “land of friends”), guests are received by friends in Carinthia.
Both in summer and in winter, Carinthia is the most beautiful place to be. Always something different, always something new. Whether you enjoy hiking in the alps or bathing in one of the many beautiful lakes – you can do both in Carinthia.

Monastery of Saint Peter of Cête - Paredes

The location of the Monastery of Saint Peter of Cête among the best farming lands is a wonderful History lesson. A visit to this Monastery shows to this day the ancient roots of the organization of parish territory. It also clarifies the importance of the religious Orders in the formation and consolidation of the kingdom.

In the 10th and 11th centuries, the period of the Reconquista (Reconquest) and the territory's reorganization, the presence of a church was the best sign that the territory was organized and populated.
